I bought the tickets on stubhub so they aren't the VIP package. I am section 2, Row C, which the seller stated was 5th row. There are a couple rows of Pit seating at the State Theater, I believe, so that must be what pushes Row C to the 5th row. I'm taking my 19 year old sis, as I've slowly been turning her into a DT fan. We are seats 9 and 10 so I am guessing we'll be just about dead center in front of the the God himself, John Petrucci!!!
I do not think these tix would be considered VIP though, I think that designation would be for the Pit seating rows. All I got was tickets anyway, not any of the backstage stuff, unfortunately. I would have sprung for that stuff if I could have gotten tickets right away. You're right though, tickets within the first 10 rows were supposed to be Platinum and Gold package tickets for this venue. Maybe the ticket seller just kept the extra stuff and sold the tickets???
It wasn't cheap for me though, I ended up paying a total of $272 for the two tickets after handling fee's and all that. They were listed for $115 a piece. I was surprised that when the tickets actually arrived this morning, they listed the $45 face value. Someone made a nice little profit.
Not that I am complaining though. I am just excited to get such good seats literally 2 days before the show! Like I said, 12 years wait man!!! I can't wait to hear the set list. I'm hoping they play Ministry of Lost Souls of the new album. That song after this whole bridge disaster would just be magic.
